Hi, I’m Ernie and I am from Tla’amin Nation. I’ve been working for KFNE/SLD since July 2017. I love working for them as they have helped me enormously in my career. They provide lots of training opportunities and are very supportive. It’s an organized company that is well-structured but also the management is very open to new suggestions and ways of doing things. It’s an awesome place to work if you love a challenge and they are very loyal to their staff going above and beyond to ensure everyone's well-being is positive.
Heavy Equipment Operator
Stephanie Patterson
Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am proud to be part of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Nation. I have worked at SLD for over five years. I started in traffic control protocol but got promoted in 2021 and I am now a Heavy Equipment Operator. Working here has given me the confidence to try new things because everyone is supportive and gives you a ‘can-do attitude! I’m really afraid of heights and enclosed spaces, which isn’t ideal for my role, but the management has full faith in me and trusts me. This has allowed me to be positive and keep working hard to overcome my fears. Everyone here has your back, which means it's considered a learning opportunity even if you make a mistake. I think it's quite rare to find a workplace that is as supportive as this. Here you don’t just have work friends, you have friends for life!
Additionally, my growth and accomplishments have been recognized, and I am honored to have been elected in the 2023 Elections in a Councilor leadership position with the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm.
Business Development Manager
Cody LaRock
I consider myself to be a very lucky man! My name is Cody LaRock and I belong to the Tsleil Waututh Nation. I started at SLD in 2018, although I had been working for a partner company since 2008. From the time I started here, the management supported me and gave me the freedom to express my views and opinions. As a result, I have gained promotion after promotion. This is a great place to work if you are motivated to work hard. They really notice you and have a powerful belief in promoting from within. I like that they value their staff.
